Dolley, Wyrick Team For Finale Win

Dennis Dolley & Bob WyrickDennis Dolley and Bob Wyrick teamed up to win the MBGFR's Dick Trotter Two Man Best Ball Finale played December 4 and 5 at Seaside's Bayonet & Blackhorse courses.

The pair edged Richard Ahart and Odes Thompson in a card-off. Both teams shot net 127s. Third low net for the two days went to Kenn Freel and Geary Engles.

Participants began play on a cool, breezy and cloudy Saturday at Bayonet Golf Course. A few light showers did not hinder play. Day One low net teams were Jim Quinn and Vic Johnson (63), Gary Paden and Steve Dwelle (64) and Wyrick and Dolley (65). Closest to the flagstick honors went to Freel and Tom McKinney.

On Sunday at Blackhorse Golf Club, winners were Freel and Engles (60), Ahart and Thompson (61) and Wyrick and Dolley (62). Closest to the flagstick winners were Ahart and Phil Hornburg.

Following play on Saturday evening, Kenn Freel hosted participants and guests at a cocktail party and dinner at Del Mesa Carmel, the complex where he lives.

The Finale ends another great year of MBGFR tournaments. Thanks to Finale hosts Kenn Freel and Dick Trotter for this event.

We also need to thank Dick Trotter for his vision and tireless leadership back in 1991 when he founded our organization. Thanks, Dick, you exemplify the Rotary motto - Service Above Self and you're an inspiration to all of us!

Make sure and check the Pictures page for photos from our Saturday night dinner, the Trotter Cup page where the 2010 Winner is unveiled and the Next Tournament page for our Desert Two Day Tournament entry information.

We hope to see you January 15 and 16, 2011 in Palm Desert!
