McKinney is gold in the silver state

Tom McKinneyMBGFR President Tom McKinney's steady play put him atop the leader board at our Reno, NV two day event on August 28 and 29.

Smoke from two Sierra Nevada wildfire reduced our field to just nine participants but none will forget the two tough Arrow Creek Country Club courses.

On Day One on the Challenge Course, McKinney carded a net 76 for first place and Tournament Host Jim Pescatore (78) took the second place money in a card-off over Lou Cosentino (78). Craig Williams won closest to the flagstick money on the 153 yard 4th hole with a shot 16'2" from the pin.

On Day Two, players moved over to the Arnold Palmer-designed Legend Course and Bob Varian (80) won a card-off over McKinney (80) for first. Pescatore (81) took home the third place money. Jim Brock won closest to the flagstick on the 119 yard 12th hole with a shot 2'7" from the pin.

McKinney's two day total of 156 was good for the overall win and Pescatore (159) was second.

Thanks to Jim Pescatore for hosting us at his new country club. Jim and Rita invited participants to their new home following play on Saturday. Both say they're happy to be out of California!
