Wyrick, Varian Win Monterey Two Day

Bob Varian & Bob WyrickThe two Bobs - Bob Wyrick and Bob Varian - teamed up to edge Sid Williams and Craig Vejovda in our second MBGFR event of 2021.

The two day event began on Saturday, May 1 at Del Monte Golf Club in Monterey. Del  Monte is the oldest 18 hole course west of the Mississippi and was in great condition for our event. It was a windy and cool day and presented a tough test for our 16 players.

Bob Wyrick and Bob Varian teamed for a net 64 in the better ball competition. They were followed by Sid Williams and Criag Vejovda (68) and Tom McKinney and Bob Sanders (70).

Closest to the flagstick winners were Rob Hall (#4) and Wyrick (#12).

Play continued on Sunday at Carmel Valley Ranch in Carmel Valley. Wind was again a factor but the course was enjoyed by all who participated.

Sid Williams and Craig Vejovda scored a net 65 on day two to edge Wyrick and Varian (67). Sue Sanders and Mike Laughlin were third with a net 68.

Wyrick (#7) and Rob Hall (#13) repeated as closest to the flagstick winners.

Thanks to Geary Engles for putting this event together!
