Covell Claims Tahoe Title

Steve CovellSteve Covell's net 145 edged Don Hutton (146) and Doug Berg (146) to take the two day title at our Lake Tahoe tournament held September 1 & 2. A card-off gave Hutton second place over Doug Berg (146).

MBGFR members and guests began play on Saturday at Schaffer's Mill Golf Course. Steve Covell was first (101-70) followed by Pres. Tom McKinney (84-72), Don Hutton (84-72) and Anne Johnson (91-72). Tom McKinney and Fred Taylor, a guest of Steve Covell, took closest to the pin money.

On Sunday at Coyote Moon Golf Course, Louie Cosentino (88-72), a guest of Jim Pescatore, was first low net and Don Hutton (86-74) was second. Gary Long (84-74) won a card-off over Doug Berg (95-74) for third. Closest to the pin on Sunday went to Jim Sigler.

Benevento Wins Half Moon Bay

Larry BeneventoVisalia's Larry Benevento shot a two day net total of 139 to claim our July two day event at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links. Trailing Benevento in second place was Steve Horvath (141) and Mike Laughlin (143) was third. Laughlin also took home the low gross money with a 73 on the Ocean Course on Sunday.

Nate Roldan captured both closest to the flagstick prizes on Sunday and Laughlin claimed the Saturday money (he was the only competitor on the green).

Participants enjoyed a great group dinner on Saturday evening at the popular Sam's Chowder House. Dinner photos are posted under "Pictures."
